Returning from Targa High Country the Simply Sports Cars team hosted thirteen Lotus sports cars at Mount Panorama Bathurst for two days of Supersprint action. A dedicated Lotus pit garage, privte drivers suite, meals, accomodation and trackside support from the SSC Mechanics and Engineers were on offer to tackle this bucket list race circuit in anger.
Wednesday arrival was all about getting set up, paperwork & scrutineering conducted in our pit garage vs waiting in the long queues. We also held a private video briefing session with experienced Lotus racecar driver Mark O’Connor to help everyone prepare for the days ahead.
Thursday morning we awoke to clear skies and a dry track, drivers briefings done and everyone had their first runs around Mount Panorama with huge grins returning to the pit garages. The rain started to fall and eased off late in the day which gave everyone some tricky driving conditions but a unique experience of running in dry, damp & fully wet conditions for the day without incident. Friday gave us a mix of blue skies and overcast weather but remained dry all day giving everyone ample time to get used to the track.
There was a huge mix of cars from competition spec GT3 cars to passenger cars with lots of other fast metal in between with Jeff dipping into the 2.28’s in a road going Lotus Exige Sport 350. Simply Sports Cars even made the Channel 7 News, check out the video clip below.
“I’ll be talking bout this one for a while ..great event great people and bloody well organized thanks SSC”
“Credit to Lee mark Paul and the team. Great track. Great organisation. Awesome experience and a great bunch of guys.”
“Thanks for a great few days and to Lee for loaning me the car. Fastest car on street legal tyres, can’t complain about that.”
“Thanks so much to everyone. Had a GREAT time. Unlike Jeff, I had the slowest car on road legal tyres, but I recon I had just as much, if not more, fun. Actually, looking at that last timesheet I was quicker than the Audi. Ha. Please give my thanks and regards again to all.”
“Thanks everyone for an awesome couple of days! Have a great weekend ahead”
“I had a great couple days too. Thank you all.”
