More details:

Wakefield Park Raceway is the location of our second of three Lotus Only Track Day held in 2018. This event is a Simply Sports Cars Driver Experience offering the perfect opportunity to enjoy your car on a race circuit close to Sydney and share the time amongst our Lotus family. The track has a winding technical layout with tight turns, and twist backs making it a challenging yet Lotus friendly drive.

The welcome dinner with the Simply Sports Cars crew is at the Astor Hotel in Goulburn on Friday evening. Come along grab fabulous pub meals and join in the track banter.

Circuit and safety briefing
Tech support from Simply Sports Cars
Refreshments during the day
Garages included

Sprint and Drive Category:

6 x 15-minute sessions throughout the day.

Race Category:

One practice session
One qualifying session
Three races, with the third race to be a handicap start

The Drive group is perfectly suited for those who are keen to explore what the car is capable of when it is no longer bound by the rules of the public road. There is no safer opportunity to do so than in our Drive group, and there will be plenty of experienced drivers on hand as well to provide advice on track driving to increase your confidence. You're guaranteed to go home a better driver!

Participants in the Sprint group will receive a timing transmitter to be secured inside the car, so that lap times can be accurately measured. On the day, there will be 6 sessions of 15 minutes each to try and lap the track just that bit quicker. The Sprint group is ideal for those with a competitive streak, keen to improve driving skills but not quite ready for the Race category.

The biggest spectacle of the LOTD is without question the race group. The race participants will have one practice, one qualifying and three race sessions, the last one starting with a handicap grid to spice things up. This is where cars start a race in the reverse order of the previous race results, with timed gaps between cars starting a race in which the aim is to have all cars arrive at the race finish together. Guaranteed fireworks!

Even though there is a healthy rivalry between the drivers in this group, the racing is very gentlemanly, and each participant is given enough room to make sure everyone can drive their Lotus back home with a big smile. This is the easiest, and safest way to try racing!

Driving a Lotus is a very pure, exhilarating experience. At our Lotus-Only Track Days you can have a Professional Driver sit in your car for private tuition. You’ll get expert guidance and advice while on track to learn more about the dynamics and balance of your Lotus, correct racing lines, braking points and more.

Driver Training is $100 per session, and can be conducted in Drive sessions only. Sprint entrants can purchase driver training and run one session with the instructor in the ‘Drive’ group.

If you do not have your AASA licence, you must purchase one before the track day.

‘Race’ - Competitors must hold a AASA National Race Licence or an approved equivalent competition licence as a minimum. An application form for a AASA National Race licence can be found https://aasa.com.au/licences/

‘Sprint’ and ‘Drive’ - Participants must hold a current drivers licence and a current AASA Club Racing Licence or approved equivalent as a minimum.

A single day AASA Club licence can be purchased online or on the day for $25. A yearly AASA Club Race Licence can be purchased/renewed online for $75. These licences are available on the AASA website: https://aasa.com.au/licences/

If you have applied for a licence in the last year and have not received or have lost your card, please contact AASA on (03) 5721 7800.

All vehicles will be subject to a scrutineering inspection before being allowed onto the circuit. The scrutineering inspection takes place in the entrant's allocated pit garage.

Race vehicles must hold an AASA passbook or recognised equivalent and must present this to scrutineering with the vehicle. Competitors in the ‘Race’ class may apply to the organiser for an exemption.

Any vehicle competing in the ‘Race’ class must be fitted with approved rollover protection. The OEM Elise/Exige roll hoop with rear support braces are considered approved rollover protection by AASA.

It is mandatory for all Drivers competing in the ‘Race’ class to wear driving suits, gloves and footwear of an approved flame-retardant material which effectively covers the body at all times while on the race track. All suits must meet the appropriate Australian Standard or a standard as approved by AASA, from time to time.
Vehicles are not required to carry fire extinguishers although it is recommended.

All ‘Drive’, ‘Sprint’ and ‘Ride’ participants will be required to wear an approved helmet, clothing that covers ankle to wrist, and fully enclosed shoes of leather or similar.

SSC's Opinion

2016, September 21

So far I have had 100% attendance to all of these events. So what`s so good about them? It`s being in the presence of those you trust and respect.

Anyone with a Lotus needs to find out all the forward dates, and make it a priority in their calendar. It`s the best money you will ever spend on your Lotus.

LOTD Sprint Review - I'd give it 6 stars if available

Thanks SSC for making this easily the best LOTD yet! A 1:11.5 lap is a new PB and 1.3s better than last time at Wakefield Park. Still plenty more in the car, just need more in the driver.

I was also very impressed with everyone in Sprint 2 looking in their mirrors, yielding and waving traffic through. I don't think I was behind anyone for more than 2-3 corners and hopefully I didn't hold anyone up myself. Apologies if I did.

As always a big shout out to the terrific staff at SSC. Mark for all the e-mails, track briefs and tyre pressure advice, Stu and PJ for engine and suspension advice and Richie for always telling me how lovely my S1 is (I'm sure he tells this to all the customers). LOTD is 'simply' the most organised and well executed track day available.

Much appreciated and already looking forward to the next LOTD.

I've only missed one these events since they started in 2012 when I was taken away to Fiji with my family. Having competed in countless motorsport events over the past 15 years I can say these are the best run and most friendly track days without doubt. Thanks to the SSC team for providing a safe, well run event so I can get my Lotus on the track where it belongs. Highly recommended.
