More details:

The traditional 2-piece brake design of a cast iron rotor mounted to a machined aluminium hat or bell is a tried and tested design proven over many years in almost all forms of GT and open wheel racing. However, the benefits can certainly be experienced by a V6 Exige owner driving on both road and track.

Although the upfront cost is less than an aftermarket set of 1-piece rotors, ongoing costs are less. This is because the hat is not replaced, but re-used, and the 2-piece rotor itself is smaller, with simpler part geometry (and therefore cheaper), than a 1-piece equivalent. Also, our kits are still less expensive than a set of OEM factory replacement rotors.

The SSC kit features:

  • 2 x completely assembled DBA 2-piece front rotors and 2 x completely assembled DBA 2-piece rear rotors to suit the V6 Exige S.
  • Hats machined from 6061-T6 aluminium and hard anodised black.
  • Front rotor sizes are 332mm diameter by 32mm thick. Rear rotor sizes are 332mm diameter by 26mm thick. These are standard sizes, so no other changes to other brake components are required.
  • Rotors are slotted (rather than cross drilled). This is a proven design used to wipe the dust from the pad under heavy braking, and the standard for any rotor to be used on track. The holes from cross drilling are stress concentrations and cracks can propagate from them in extreme cases.
  • Rotors are handed, with asymmetrical curved vanes effectively acting as air pumps to promote cooling.

SSC's Opinion

Higher spec and cheaper than the OEM replacements, with lower ongoing maintenance costs.
