Targa Tasmania 2017 placings
- 1st & 3rd Place – Exige in GT Sports Trophy
- 4th Place – Exige in GT2
Jeff Morton (Driver) and Dennis Neagle (Navigator) have won the GT Sports Trophy class at Targa Tasmania by over 10 minutes in their first attempt at the gruelling Targa Tasmania Rally. The experienced Martin Duursma & Richard Wodhams combination claimed a magnificent 3rd spot in their Lotus Exige after a tight battle for the podium spots.Â
Our team at Simply Sports Cars were on hand during the Rally to assist & also prepared the Lotus Exige Sport 350. With a speed limit of 130km/h the GT Sports Trophy class runs on all the same stages and closed roads as the other classes and allows competitors to enjoy a fully competitive rally experience. Such was their raw speed that Jeff & Dennis’ finishing time, even with the speed restriction, placed them in the top 35 cars overall behind many purpose built race cars and other machinery worth triple the price.Â
Lotus featured prominently in the GT2 class for 2-wheel drive cars and outright with a 4th place to Paul Stockell and Jenny Cole finished an impressive 4th in their production based Lotus Exige. They were beaten by two purpose built race cars and a $500,000 Porsche thus proving the Exige’s ability to be a supercar killer with its light weight and brilliant handling.
