Drew Dundas has shared his story about competing in his first ever rally event at Targa Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. He had spend a couple of years as a volunteer at the rally but decided it was time to have a go himself.

What car did Drew use for his first targa rally?

After doing a lot of research about what would be an ideal Targa Rally car, Drew eveually chose a Lotus Elise 2012 model with the 1.8 litre supercharged engine. A second hand Lotus Elise is a great choice for a sports car under $60K for sale in Australia to use for things like track days or targa rally events. The Elise is a two door, mid-engined, rear wheel drived sports car that is very light weight with precise, nimble handling.

Red Book’s Private Price Guide has an Elise 2012 sports car valued at around $35-$40K depending on the kilometres and condition.

So you can enjoy using it on your favourite country backroad or head to a racing circuit like Eastern Creek, Sandown or Queensland Raceway to get a complete track day driving experience.

What did Drew think of the Elise?

...I DISCOVERED ON MANY CORNERS THAT THE CAR WILL PERFORM AT A LEVEL THE MIND HAS DIFFICULTY COMPREHENDING...

THE ELISE IS ONE OF THOSE CARS THAT MAKES YOU SMILE WHEN YOU DRIVE IT AND TAKE A SECOND PEEK WHEN YOU SEE IT. PEOPLE WANT OT ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT IT AND KIDS WANT TO SIT IN IT
