A weekend driving road

“HAPPINESS ISN‘T AROUND THE CORNER, IT IS THE CORNER….”
Thank you to Geoff for sharing one of his weekend driving road routes.
So – there’s no track day on today, what are the best Sunday quick morning drives around Sydney in your Lotus sports car?
Scenic, twisty and with some challenges. For people living in Sydney, this is one of the best driving roads – an old favourite which never fails to satisfy.
This run can be enjoyed both ways depending on your preference for descending or climbing a mountain pass. There are some great sections that are very flowing with quick direction changes and some great camber.
It is the type of stretch of road that you could easily drive up and down for a few hours & still get enjoyment out of it.
Starting at: Pacific Highway, Berowra (B83)
End at: Kangaroo Point, Cowan. (B83)
Road surface: Very good.
Best time of year: Early morning any time of year can be very enjoyable. Winter can have some mist & dampness around, especially under the trees.
Features: Steep, speedy downhill / uphill section with sharpish corners, red-lining opportunities. Good scenery.
Coffee stop: Pie in the Sky, Cowan – mainly bikers but always some classic cars present on Sundays.
– Or – Estuary kiosk, Kangaroo Point. Good coffee, magic views.
Timing (one way, add your transit time): ~15 mins.
Add-on: Proceed north across the bridge then on to Somersby (staying on B83). +30min.
Remember: Keep an eye out for motorcyclists, animals and hidden speed camera traps. Stay safe, and happy driving.
